Temiskaming Shores, Ontario is a small but vibrant community that loves its hockey and figure skating. Whether you're an experienced skater or just learning the basics, there are plenty of arenas and outdoor rinks in the area to suit your needs.

First up on the list is the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena, located at 75 Wellington St. South in New Liskeard. This arena is open from August to April and offers a wide range of activities, including figure skating and skating lessons, adult and youth hockey, pickup hockey and hockey clinics. The arena also has fully accessible washrooms and offers smooth rubber flooring throughout, making it easy for skaters of all ages and abilities to get around. Additionally, the Temiskaming Shores Minor Hockey Association and the Temiskaming Shores Skating Club both have offices within the facility, making it a hub for all things hockey and skating. And when you need a break from the action, head to the full service concession for a snack.

But the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena isn't just about hockey and skating. Upstairs, you'll find the Timiskaming Tumblers Gymnastics Club, which offers classes for kids of all ages. So whether you're a budding gymnast or just looking for a fun way to stay active, this arena has something for everyone.

Next on the list is the Shelley Herbert-Shea Memorial Arena, located at 400 Ferguson Ave in Haileybury. This arena is open from September to March 31st and offers figure skating and skating lessons, adult and youth hockey, pickup hockey and hockey clinics. The Temiskaming Shores Skating Club also has an office located within the facility, making it easy to sign up for classes or get involved in the local skating scene.

And when winter hits, there's nothing like hitting the ice outside. The City of Temiskaming Shores maintains two outdoor rinks and a skating path within the city, open during the winter months (weather permitting, of course). The Dymond Outdoor Rink is located at the end of Laurette Street in the Dymond subdivision, while the Shaver Park Outdoor Rink is located on Queen St in the North Cobalt subdivision. Once the ice is installed, lights are on nightly until 9pm for free community use. And for a truly unique skating experience, head to the Waterfront Skating Path located next to the Waterfront Pool and Fitness Centre. With stunning views of Lake Timiskaming, it's the perfect place to take a leisurely skate and soak up the beauty of the area.
