Temiskaming Shores is a nature lover's paradise, and the city boasts some of the best hiking trails in the region. From the breathtaking views of Devil's Rock (Mani-doo Aja-bikong) Trail to the historical landmarks of the Cobalt Historic Walking Trail, there's something for everyone. Devil's Rock (Mani-doo Aja-bikong) Trail: This trail offers two hiking options to reach the peak, a mostly-flat 2km trail accessible from a roadside entry point, and a 3km trail with greater inclines entered at the Bucke Park Campground. Meandering paths lead to viewing points along the clifftops. The trail is open year-round, but caution must be taken as there are few fences and no supervisors. With almost 21.4km of paved pathway, the trail is perfect for cycling, walking, running, and rollerblading, and is accessible to everyone. The trail is perfect for a leisurely stroll, and there are plenty of benches and picnic areas to stop and enjoy the view.
Cobalt Historic Walking Trail: This 3 km paved tour through the center of Cobalt, known as the "Silver Capital of Canada." The tour is easy to access and is popular with visitors and locals alike. The trail adjoins the Silver Heritage Trail, a 6 km system of roads and paths that can be hiked, cycled, or driven through Coleman Township. Visitors can see the various sites of the "silver city" and learn about its illustrious past, including historically themed murals and a tribute to Dr. William Henry Drummond, Poet Laureate and mine owner, at the Drummond Cairn.
Ottawa-Temiskaming Highland Trail: This trail is a challenging hike that takes hikers through rugged terrain and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The trail runs for over 400 km, but hikers can choose to tackle shorter sections of the trail to suit their skill level.
